Honyac is a Mac app that lives in your menu bar.

Prepare an AI model and endpoint
Set up Ollama, or an OpenAI-compatible API. Memory needs and speed vary by model.

Set translation and explanation models
Type Japanese or English and translate. Open explanations when needed, and keep asking questions.

What do I need for translation?
A Mac on macOS 14 or later, plus an Ollama or OpenAI-compatible endpoint and the models you want to use. Honyac does not bundle AI models.
Is my text sent anywhere?
If you run Ollama or LM Studio on the same Mac, your text never leaves for an external cloud. With a remote API configured, your text is sent to that endpoint.
Which languages can it translate?
Currently Japanese and English, in both directions. The explanation language can be changed in Settings. Multilingual translation is planned as a future feature.
Does the page show the real app?
The screens are recreations based on the current app’s SwiftUI source, with the app UI in Japanese. The text, translation, explanation and answers are authored examples. Actual results and processing time depend on the model and environment you choose.
Where can I download it?
Distribution is in preparation. Once the download location is decided, it will be announced on this page. In the meantime, the user guide covers connection setup and operations.
